Site Code column in Collections
SCCM 2007 SP2 1 Primary Site 6 Secondary Sites With the Collections Tree, under All Systems in my SCCM console, the Site Codes are not complete accurate. Some Site Codes for installed clients do not reflect the site they are located at. One answer I received on an earlier thread, suggested that they will always respond to my Primary Site. My collection list reflects differently, showing me a client that I know for a fact resides in a secondary site called "103", but shows up as "001" in my 'All Systems' collection (001 is my primary). But then again, there are systems too, that I know for a fact redise at "103" and the site code reflects "103." So which is really correct here? I've been trying to search this out, tried installing, reinstalling clients, and I can't seem to find out why this is happening. I want to know what I should expect to see as a site code for a client that physically resides at my secondary site 103. Should I see 103??? ...or should I see my primary server 001??? This is really confusing for me, and my management, when they see this oddity.

Yes, I know, and If your answer there is correct, then I must be having a bigger issue then. :-) Why then, would two (2) clients at a secondary site, show one with a site code of the Primary site, and one show the Secondary site? What would I expect to see, and why would I see the other? It's a question that came up at a meeting, and I want to be sure that: A.) The client is responding the the server it's supposed to B.) The Site Code column has any meaning, to where the client should be responding to, or if it is just "HogWash" FYI, sarcasm does not come across well in forum post. The Kent’s answer in the original post is right. All PCs at a secondary site show up with their primary site code. All others are wrong and you should look at them and fix them. The site code column is not "HogWash". http://www.enhansoft.com/

I think his answer is correct too, and I trust him. He seems to be one of the more reputable people to respond to posts here. Sorry if it was rubbed the wrong way...didn't really mean to. Yes, I want to fix them, and that is what my question really is about. Why would this happen and how do I fix it? :-) If they are all supposed to show to the Primary Site, and some clients are showing the Secondary site instead, then I have a big issue here and I do need to fix it. I need to find that out, but not really sure yet on why this would be happening. Just trying to find out if anyone has had this type of issue before, and has done anything to try to fix it. I guess I can try to reinstall all the clients, which would be fine, but would this be the correct course of action? Has anyone seen this before? Thanks,

Ok, I think found the issue, but I'd like to know if I am on the right track or not. The previous administrator to me, loaded a Primary Site at each one of the locations, and installed clients, and had no secondary sites (about 9 months ago). I found this out, because of some previous documentation I found, and an idle virtural machine I powered on (without network connection) with SCCM 2007 installed and a SQLExpress database loaded with a database called SMS_103. The theory here is, that he installed the clients on machines that existed at the time, and since there have been more PC's added over the last 9 months or so, clients that are responding to my primary site at 001, are correct. This could explain why some clients in my console say "103" and some say "001". Would this be good theory? If so, would reinstalling clients make them report 001, or could I just script something to the client machines to make that change?

First of all SCCM will not use SQL express so I would question what you think you found. Second I didn't read your other post so I don't know all the details. If that primary site code (assuming there ever was a primary site) was the same as the current secondary site code you likely having bigger problems than just some clients with an incorrect site code. Normally when clients show the site code of a secondary site in the console they will correct themselves within 24 hours. Zip up all the logs from the one of the clients that shows the wrong site code and email them to me. Also send me a screen shot of everything in the system management container. After you zip up those logs go to the configuration manager icon in the control panel on that client and click the auto discover site code and tell me what happens. Email all that to john marcum at gmail dot com. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Try re-install the client on one of the client and pray that you didn't reuse a site code otherwise you will have issue that will need to be clean up.http://www.enhansoft.com/
