Single configuration file for all the SSIS packages(including parent and child packages)
As long as all the packages use the same Configured items (Connection Strings, Variables, Properties, etc) AND all the items listed in the Config file are used by each package, then you can simply edit each package to use the one XML Config file.
But personally, being a database guy instead of an XML guy, I prefer to use SQL Server database for my configurations. Yes, I do have ONE XML config file in each Environment that indicates where the database is for that environment, but that's it.
