Depending on your setup, you might need to look multiple places.

  1. When deploying software updates using SCCM, client will only restart if the update requires a reboot to complete.
  2. The restart behavior can be controlled using Client Settings (Administration).
  3. If you have specified maintenance windows, your clients wont install/restart until a service window is started.
  4. On the deployment (or ADR) you also have the option to suppress the restart.

thank you for your comments ,

I'm confused

v-2bhasx * - i have check this option but i can't set specific time for shutdown , i want specify time .

Ronni Pedersen* : so if the update is required shutdown how the client know when it will preform shutdown ?

> regarding 2 )  where is the options that  possible set restart at 03:00 AM ( for specific collection )

> 3  Yes i have maintenance windows what is implication of this option abut clients ? as i know maintenance windows is time that client get update , that's true ?

I just want ask you something more ,

I remember that when i worked with WSUS only so there is option from gpo set the time that clients will perform shutdown after updates  , so if i will set in GPO again this option may work ? or SCCM disable automatically all GPO settings ?

There is another option. The end user can configure "work hours" in the software center. Depending on the deployment configuration, that might also case a "delay".

Update will tell the OS that a restart is pending (Like any other update).

Maintenance Windows is where the update get installed and reboots. Download of updates will/can happen outside the maintenance windows.

Shutdown GPO settings for WSUS will not affect Update Deployment using SCCM.

Again thanks ,

so except maintenance windows there is not other to configure shutdown ?

your last option is not good for me ,

if i will configured maintenance windows of 2 hours in this 2 hours the client will get update and in additional shutdown ?

# something more , in situation od maintenance windows i need to check and do testing ,

If i will  push immediately updates (using machine policy + software updates )?you know for testing the client will push all update although the maintenance windows  or that must wait for maintenance window ?

Maintenance Windows is not required. If you dont use them updates will be install when required.

ConfigMgr does not provide the option to shutdown the computer after installing updates.

So as you say

we don't have option like old version m (Wsus+GPO) to set time when client will shutdown after update install

that sound very strange

That's the way to product works. You could set up energy settings (power plans) with ConfigMgr though.

You know that very strange because SCCM is system with huge responsibility  that can control on all

computers and preform what is set ,

Last question , how client know when it need to do restart who decide for them ?

just  ask you this question because after i did several deploys i noticed that my client

Got message "Will restart at 7/6/15 04:40 PM , "

and other client got message "Will restart at 7/6/15/06:00 PM ",

If i will configure maintenance windows for 3 hours have chance that in those hours client will download update and preform restart or don't take a risk ?

i will glad to hear how  you mange your updates in your organization ?

Thank you very much

Appreciate your help

i will glad to hear how  you mange your updates in your organization ?

This is how most of my customer do it:

Desktops:

- No Service Window defined

- Updates are deployed to be required ASAP.

- Desktops install updates and suppress restart (Updates are install without notifying the user).

Servers:

- Each Server has a minimum of 8 hours of maintenance windows defined

- Updates are deployed to be required ASAP.

- Servers will install updates and restart if required (during maintenance window)
