We are planning to move from http to https, some of the webparts are hardcoded for specific sites say "http:\\testsite.com", my question is do i have to modify the webparts to say “https” if i setup Alternate Access Mapping to redirect sites to https in WSS 3.0. Shashi

Hi SSFed, To my knowledge, you don’t need to modify the URL after you move from HTTP to HTTPS. Alternate Access Mappings will help you to redirect the sites to correct address. Hi Lei, I ran into issues with moving from http to https, I tried the following: 1. Unextend the web application (sharepoint -80) 2. Reextend the Web Application to a new site say https://test1.domain.com ( and i selected SSL, NTLM Authentication, port:443) 3. Installed the SSL Certicate on the new website running from port 443 and now when i try to login using integrated windows authentication it keeps asking me for username and password and i get httP: 401- 1 error 4. I tried to do the following to see if it get rid of the error, but i had no luck: (a) I set authentication to "NTLM" by following the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832769 (b) i disabled loopback check by following the steps from : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 Any pointers would be appreciated? You don't have to extend the web application to enable SSL. I did a posting on this a bit back (link here). That's great Shashi, glad that it helped. Without knowing the details of the web parts, properties and such, this is only a supposition. If the site's available over both http (80) and https (443) then they should work, however, again, when you mix non-secure/secure content on a web page, you'll get that dialog box asking you if that's ok, and if you want to display both types of content or not.
