A SharePoint workflow can be described as an event or a chain of events that is triggered when an item is created or changed in a list/library. It is mainly of 3 types:

• OOTB (Out of the box) Workflows
• Custom SPD (SharePoint Designer) Workflows
• Custom workflows using C#
