Sharepoint slow response- Site Collection object cache
Hi, We have well setup sharepoint infrastructure with 2wfe, 1 app server and a sql cluster database. The production has been started recently. There are couple of custom webparts are deployed. There is a complaint from the users that sharepoint is very slow and taking minutes to download complete objects. Here I am looking at the options for increasing performance. Any expertize on setting the Site Collection cache, Site Collection output cache and Site collection cache profiles are highly appreciated. Any best practices on performance are invited. --Sp

Hello spevangel, Try to activate your blobcache, Edit the web.config of your relevant web site and search for <BlobCache element When find change enabled to "true". You can modify the directory where you want to store your objects. Themaxsize unit is gigabyte. Do this modification on each web server. The output cachetechnique is very well explained on the following link: http://blogs.msdn.com/ecm/archive/2006/11/08/how-to-make-your-moss-2007-web-site-faster-with-caching.aspx Regards, Noureddine

Hmm..ok..caching is one option. Another issue could be with Antivirus settings on the machine running SharePoint Server. Hello, To better the first access, you should load the sharepoint server to the cache, this problem is already known using framework 2.0 and 3.0. One way to solve this is to do a warm-up, only available in IIS 7.5, another solution is to use a script or SPWakeup. Raphael Carvalho

Hi, You can use any of the following warm up scripts to do a warm up. I have tried the script in the blog of Joel Oleson and it works wonderfully with my sharepoint site. Attached a few for reference please see if any fits your need. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/joelo/archive/2006/08/13/697044.aspx http://spwakeup.codeplex.com http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/30841392/moss-2007-warm-up-script.aspx Thanks, Raj
