Sharepoint root redirect
Hi there We have a MOSS 07 Portal server here and the most annoying thing is the URL. So we have http://moss:15000/sites/finance and http://moss:15000/sites/management Which is hard to enter every time you want to access it. So my idea is that there should be a start page, or a normal HTML page to provide redirects or links to click on. Where can I define that? When I try http://moss:15000/ I get a 404 error. Thanks

You could probably use a host header in IIS to make a more user friendly URL

Your 404 is most likely caused by not creating a site collection on http://moss:15000. Generally if you are going to create a site like this you don't use ports (the user gets confused). Set up the address in DNS and then provision the site on the DNS host header like Gary said.

Hi, I need to redirect the first url(ShowItem.aspx) to secound url(DocIdRedir.aspx) with the unique id(ID=12345) The ShowItem.aspx is inside folder1, where the DocIdRedir.aspx is just in layouts. 1) https://.........._layouts/folder1/ShowItem.aspx?ID=12345 2) https://.........._layouts/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=12345 My basic objective is to show the document with unique id=12345 in DocIdRedir.aspx, instead of ShowItem.aspx. Need suggestion to resolve this.
