Sharepoint is down after installing sharepoint 3.0 sp2
Sharepoint 3.0 Service Pack 64-bit Edition intalled on the server and now no one can access the http://sharepoint. Website is down. The server is 64 bit 2003, SP1 installed.

what do you mean by down? Need more information. Did the service pack finish installing? Did you try running this from the command prompt psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b –wait –force

i mean no one can acces the portal but at the same time i can access the central administration website only. I've just ran the setup to upgrade the windows server to serviec Pack 2.

did you run the psconfig command? did you run both the WSS and the MOSS?

well it was an update in the windows update and we did apply it and it caused the problem. my system doesn't recognize psconfig

check the error in the log file located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Micros oft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_5_25_2010_10_44_42_311_2 05133618.log What does it say?

this is the probelm. msft is troubleshooting it for the last 4 hrs...no solution so far. duplicate key was found for the object name 'dbo.UserInfo' and the index name 'UserInfo_Login'. The duplicate key value is (32727e0f-212f-417b-a894-94999880f4cb, EAFG\sschaefer, 0). The statement has been terminated.

i was with their support for almot 15 hrs.... yuck........ but end of the day we are at the same point.. now they will escalate to their senior and they will come up with some action plan, i don't know homw much time or days will they need to do it...why MSFT has such stupid patch system, why i can't roll back. It is affecting the business...I've convinced the management and the people to to go for sharepoint but next week i'm facing this downtime...wow.
