Hi, my sharepoint installation seems to be broken If I navigate to http://mysite/sites/site1 it does not redirect to http://mysite/sites/site1/default.aspx It does not work for any site. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Have you changed any IIS settings? Is the default document for you web application in IIS set to default.aspx?

I've been searching MSDN and Google for a solution to the same problem. Everything works except the redirect from / to /default.aspx Default document was set to default.aspx but still no joy. The solution is to go to Web Service Extensions in IIS and make sure "Windows Sharepoint Services" is allowed. (Web Service Extensions appears as a folder in IIS at the same level as "Web Sites") hope this helps

Xavito, Some questions 1) What site template are you using for site1 - is this a publishing site? 2) Are you getting a 404 or some other error? 3) what happens if you try to explicitly navigate to http://mysite/sites/site1 /default.aspx ?

xavito, Were you ever able to solve your problem? Did the navigation only not work if you were logged in as a User in the Members Group for that Site? I am having the issue you are talking about but only if I am logged in as a User in the Members Group. If I log in as a Site Collection Administrator, it redirects fine. Gary, I have not changed any IIS settings and the Home Page in SharePoint Designer is set to default.aspx. clarkee_1066, "Windows SharePoint Services V3" is allowed under the Web Service Extensions in IIS. MSNGN, I am using the Blank Site Template with the default Master page. There is no 404 error; I receive an "Access Denied" error. If I explicitly navigate, it works. Any help is appreciated! Cardi

Hi Have you been able to resolve this issue? I am having the same issue and i have been troubleshooting this for almost 3 days now but no luck. My sharepoitn 2007 sp2 installation was working fine and all of a sudden, it has stopped redirecting to /pages/default.aspx. if i manually type in the full file path for example www.mysite.com/pages/default.aspx everything works fine but if i type www.mysite.com i get an unknown file type meassage asking me to download file. there has been no change on my iis?? Any help is appreciated. Sriraj

thanks Xenox sorry for the confusion , that's exactly what i am getting when i go to the url you mentioned, i get an "administration web form " which lets me change my welcome page url but it already has my full url of my default page i.e. http://mysite.com/pages/default.aspx problem is, when i go to the site it does not redirect to /pages/default.aspx infact i get an unknown file type message as soon as i go to www.mysite.com does this makes sense?
