Sharepoint List.PST Excessively Large
I've been running low on space on my computer so I've started looking for the largest files to try to delete them. I've found a file that's over 10 GB. It's the SharePoint Lists.PST file but as far as I know I don't have any SharePoint lists. I have connected to several SharePoint calendars but even once I delete those from my Outlook it doesn't affect the file. I think I'm running Outlook 2007. I want to know if there's a way to either reduce the size of this file or if it's safe to delete it all together. Thanks.

When was the PST last modified, if the date and time coincide when you last used outlook then the pst may still be in use. Add the data file in Outlook and see if its necessary information. After you add the data file to Outlook you can choose Compact Now to reduce its size... -IvanIvan Sanders My LinkedIn Profile, My Blog, @iasanders.

I have the same problem. If you click on the folders icon at the bottom left of Outlook, you'll see the folders under share point lists. The sync issue folder contains the conflict folder. In the conflict folder, I have 1.3 million conflicts that are growing by the second. It stems from appointments I have on my calendar. I get hundreds a minute and it has grown my sharepoint lists.pst file to over 5 gig. Does anyone have an idea on how to stop/prevent this? David

If you have removed the list in your outlook view then the pst file is no longer needed. However just because you remove the list from your Outlook left pane window it does not mean you have deleted it from your harddrive. You can delete the pst file since it will be created again once you connect your sharepoint list back to your outlook. If you have a ton of errors its because you had something you tried to do going toward the list that was not working correctly or some data was not transfered correctly. You may want to look at the errors to fix them or just remove the pst file altogether and have it download the new one from sharepoint. I have seen this on my pc as well when I was testing connections with sharepoint to Outlook. I thought it was a cool idea until I noticed the file size was getting too big so I don't allow my users to connect to sharepoint for the very same reason as I dont know how to control it once the users connect to it to update a list or calendar from outlook. If specific columns are created in sharepoint they are not visible in outlook so you have to see what the errors are in that some columns may be set up to have information in them so if a user tries to add an item to the list it errors out due to missing information or something like that. From my personal experience I have removed the pst file and deleted them and had sharepoint recreate the file automatically but remember that if the list is already big in sharepoint and you connect it to your outlook you download the entire data to your local c: drive. To me this is not good and I am not sure if this is by design or if I just have a problem on my sharepoint farm. These are just my two cents worth. But I can tell you I have deleted the pst file and had sharepoint recreate it with no problems.WorkerBee09
