I'm new to Sharepoint and inherited an existing site with some discussion boards so forgive me if this is a complete newb of a problem. When replying to old existing discussions on sites, the body section of the reply is there and you can enter the text of your reply. If I create a new discussion board in the same area as the old discussion or in any new site everything appears normal until you reply to a discussion. When you click on the reply button, the next screen is missing the Body field. All that is displayed is the "attach file" and "Spelling" link with the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. I've been looking for some answers to this and can find no mention to this specific issue. Thanks

Found the answer for myself. Some how the settings for discussion boards had been changed at some point in time so that the under the "Message" content type, the "Body" field was always set to "hidden". Changed it there and it was back to normal.
