Sharepoint Alert on a Document library view
Hi all,
My question is pretty simple.
OOTB, can we create an alert on a precise view in a document library?

On a document library. Not on a view.

Views on list is just Filteration or representation of data in list/Document Library. You cannot have alert on views but you can have it on item which is representing that item in view.
IF you have it on item then it will work on views which is displaying that item.

We can set up alerts on views in a document library but there are few things to consider.
1. When you create an alert under Send Alerts for these changes section an option "Someone changes an item that appears in the following view"appears with a drop down of all your views (so you can select any view you want to create alert from the DD choices)
2. This option is only avialable when you create views by filtering achoice column.
3.These views will only appear if the choice column is not a system generated column like approval status etc.
Hope this helps!
Thank you,
Anu
