Sharepoint Alert Me Not Working Properly
Hello, Well, I'm facing an issue with the "alert me" function on Sharepoint. Let me try to explain. Well, I created an announcement list, then I created an announcement and I configured it to alert me when any change occurs on this announcement. After someone changed the announcement content I received the e-mail but the whole body was "crossed". It's like the person have changed the whole content which is not the case. So, I performed the following test: - I created another announcement. - Set it to send me an email when any change occurs. - So, I changed some parts of the body content. - After that, I received an email with all the lines crossed. As I told, it's like I changed or even delete everything on the body, which is not the case. So I reviewed the source code of the email and I noticed that the HTML is not correct, there are many tags unclosed (for example). After All, I created a small announcement with two lines and the alert for this one works properly, but still not working for big contents. Does anyone know if it's a know issue with alert messages for large contents ? Best Regards, Diego.

Diego, Did you check whether it is related with 255 character issue. In other words, while internally the data travel through the HTTP, if the the length of the text is more than 255 character, it has been stuck off. Did you check the log files. You may try to off and on the OWSTIMER.exe service. Thanks, Himadrish

Hi, The body of the announcement list is a Multiple Lines of Text field, and if I understand correctly, your concern is the Multiple Lines of Text field was flagged as edited even if it was not edited in the emails sent by the Alert Me feature. If so, this is a known issue and caused by the html tag of Multiple Lines of Text field which is originally lower case (such as <div>) changes to upper case (such as <DIV>) when it comes back from RTE control. And the issue only happens once if you do not make changes on Multiple lines of text field. Currently we do not have the hotfix of this problem, but the product group is investigating the influence to our customers and decide whether and when to fix the issue. Sorry for your inconvenience. -lambertSincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

I found a solution for me. As the editor have many HTML formating parameters in the source code the solution for my colleagues was, they took the complete text, paste it into Notepad, copy the text from Notepad again and paste it back to the announcement field.
