Share Point migrating from SBS2003 to Windows Server Standard 2003: broken?
Ok here is the back story. Have been asked to migrate a small business off their SBS2003 server to a Windows 2008 domain. There are a couple Windows 2003 servers, one being a second domain controller. I had performed a backup using stsadm on their "http://companyweb" URL share point site. I watched as it took its time backing up to the local drive(looks to be over 3Gb in size). Next went off to install WSS 3.0 on a different Windows 2003 server and that ended the days work. Pressure from the customer needed to have the Windows 2008 controller up sooner then expected and the Domain controller SBS was demoted and left standing as a member server for the time being while other items are being migrated. I have copied over the backup file "webbackup.dat" to the new server and deleted the IIS site and "Share Point - 80" site so I restore to IIS as it was mentioned on a post at experts-exchange. Flash forward to this moment: I am in the BIN folder on the new server (\12\BIN) and running the command "stsadm -o restore -url http://companyname -filename c:\webbackup.dat -overwrite" and am receiving this error. The Web application at http://companyweb could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administratormay need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application . So I am decent in administering Windows and Active Directory, but know little about WSS. I will say that the number folder on the bin is different from \60 (old SBS) to \12 (new server). I am not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Just trying to seek guidance here. All the files and what not should still be residing on the other server, just that the SBS is no longer a DC so the old site fails to come up for some other reason. From the old site, everyone's "home page" defaults to this share point site. This is what they see. Server Error in "/" Application. Runtime Error Then it goes off into messages about customer errors page and setting it to off. No real information left exists. My guess is that the connections between the database and the site may be broken on the old server. So, where do I go or what can I do to get this previous site loaded on the new server and up and running. Time is of the essence on this. Your help is more then appreciated.
