Need more info. What happenned before this error occurs? (process of upgrading?modified settings?)Is this a farm or a standalone setup?That's SharePoint for you...

HiWell are user somehow deleted a whole site on our SharePoint. I restored the site using a backupand in doing so the administration for sharepoint is no longer accesible also the timer service is not working correctly.the server is a standalone and not a farm operation. we have one sharepoint server for our intranet.Ravinder Jamgotre

How did you do the restore? Which databases did you restore? all of them or just thecontent database for the site?That's SharePoint for you...

Sorry, I am not a MS rep so they might be able to find a way to support you for remote support. I just help out on the forum only. It seems like you did a database restore (or perhaps multiple databases). If it was only the site that was deleted, I would have restore ONLY the content database and detach/reattach it (via CA or stsadm). Somehow I think you restored too many databases (configuration and/or CA database). You can try and run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard and hope it can repair the restore. That's SharePoint for you...

Found answer by setting up a test server and replicating the error message above. I need to re-create the admin site, publish IIS site with correct port number (central admin uses long ports, however these can be modified).Ravinder Jamgotre
