I am having an issue with one of my web applications. The site runs very slow, especially when I am creating/deleting list columns. It takes about 1-2 minutes to create a simple list column. I have a total of 8 web applications and I am only having issues with that 1 application. Is there anything I can check to improve its performance?

Check which application pool it runs under and then check the account associated with that App pool. It sounds like a timeout is taking place which results in the long wait time. Try switching the app pool to an app pool associated with another web app the is NOT slow. I tried what you suggested but adding/deleting columns is still very slow. I'll try removing a hotfix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956057) that I installed last month. I just don't understand why the hotfix would slow down one web application and not the others.... Thank you for the suggestion!
