SharePoint thesaurus files

All,

I am in the process of setting up synonyms in the SharePoint thesaurus files. I am following this article, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361734.aspx, but have run into an issue. I do not have a directory with the name %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\GUID-query-0\Config. Search is working flawlessly. Any ideas why this directory is missing?

I have a separate development farm and the directory exists on the front end there. I added the synonyms following the article from above in this environment and it worked fine.

Thanks

Hi CosmoDeveloper,

Did you mean when you go to directory "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\", there is no "GUID-query-0" folder on SharePoint server running Search service application?

Please try to create another new search service application for test, check if the "GUID-query-0" folder is created in that directory.

And here is an article with using process monitor to find the SharePoint search service thesaurus file, you can take a look.

The location will vary depending on your FARM and Search Service Application configuration.
