SharePoint sub-site full fidelity export import tools
I have a sub-site with workflows configured on it. We have to move/migrate this subsite to another farm with the workflows intact. Both the farm are on WSS 3.0. I do not have the option to move the entire site collection. I am only authorized to move the sub-site. How can I do this? SharePoint sub-site export doesn't take care of workflows. Is there any tool that can do full fidelity sub-site migration? Regards, Mahesh

That is a tall order in SharePoint 2007. You aren't going to find any native tools inside of SharePoint to do that. You are going to need a migration suite from either AvePoint or Metalogix. AvePoint: http://www.avepoint.com/ Metalogix: http://www.metalogix.com/Products/SharePoint.aspx I hope this helps- Jeff DeVerter, MCSE Rackspace blog:http://www.social-point.com twitter: http://www.twitter.com/jdeverter Jeff DeVerter

Hi Mahesh, As best as I can tell, there isn’t a direct way to do full fidelity sub-site migration. Workflow is an item that will not be moved with the lists or libraries directly, if it is a SharePoint Designer workflow, it embed lots of specific GUIDs in the workflow XML when it is built, so I will suggest you to recreate it instead of migrating it from one environment to another, if it is a workflow using Visual Studio, you can deploy it as feathers and reuse. Hi, You can migrate subsite content using stsadm export and import command, but the SPD designed custom workflows will not be moved. If you have any OOB workflow, then they will be migrated but any running workflow will not be migrated. For SPD designed workflow after migrating you would have to again associate the workflow with lists and libraries. Thanks, Soumyadev

Jeff, The questions was WSS 3.0 to WSS 3.0 migration. SP 2010 has nothing to do with it. In addition please remove from your sig the statement that asks people to mark the post as an answer. This is unfair on everyone who does not have such a line.
