We are planning to deploy SharePoint Record center solution for our archival and historical record keeping. The article on MSDN about software boundaries (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx#ContentDB) states in the section "Content database limits (point 4)":
"Do not use alerts, workflows, link fix-ups, or item level security on any SharePoint Server 2013 objects in the content database."
My question is that is this recommendation specific to Drop Off libraries or in general? What would be the draw back if we apply alerts on the Drop Off library for a few hundred users?
