SharePoint site throwing http 500 internal server error
Site A has been working. This weekend it started throwing 500 Internal Server Error. I tried to pull up the site in SharePoint Designer and it hung on me every time. I can get to pages like the "Site Settings" page and the "All Site Content" page but I cannot get to default.aspx and when I click on any of the links from the "All Site Content" page, such as "Shared Documents" I get: Error Cannot complete this action. Please try again. I just tried SharePoint Designer again and the site is not even listed anymore, even though when you browse to the root SharePoint site and view "All Site Content" it is listed there.

Those are tricky symptoms. In my experience, a 500 error will happen if the password for the sharepoint services account expires or the account is disabled for some reason. However, I'd expect a 500 error everywhere. Did anything change in the environment late last week? Check the 12 hive log files. Something may show up there.--Paul Galvin, Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) Microsoft MVP - SharePoint Blogging @ http://feeds.feedburner.com/PaulGalvinsSharePointSpace Twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/pagalvin
