SharePoint site owner has left the company without passing on ownership
Hi, The owner for a SharePoint site I am trying to get access to has left the company without passing on the ownership to anyone else. What happens now. How do I get access to the site. Is there an overide method? or do you just have to start again? Thanks

No, you can ask the farm administrator to change the assigned site collection administrator within Central Administration. Or he can assign himself and give you the appropriate permissions once he's logged in.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

Will the site owner's name always appear in the All People section of a sharepoint site?

HI, The farm administrator can provide you access. In an another way via central administrator --> Policy for web application a service account can be added as with admin access to all sites and thus using this account access canbegranted. You need to delete the person manually from all people page. Just select the checkbox against his name and go to Actions--> Remove from site collection. I hope this will help you out.
