SharePoint returned the following error: Invalid URI: The URI is empty. Contact your system administrator for help in resolving this problem.

I'm just testing on SharePoint 2013 on a test machine.

When I created a subsite using "Site Settings" >"Site Content">subsite, got this error:

SharePoint returned the following error: Invalid URI: The URI is empty. Contact your system administrator for help in resolving this problem.

What needs to be done to get a sub site created?

Hi ,

Have you reproduced the issue on other site collections event within other web applications, verify if it's an isolate issue?

Also please check ULS log for more useful related error messages, which are logged when above error occurs.

I found some postings regarding this issue, this is related to My Site with User Profile Service and feed with My Site web app.

Since we did not enable My Site in initial configuration, even after I "Set up My Site" in User Profile Service, it gives a different error which related to the Feed.

So for now I removed that webpart from the page.

Hi,

It sounds like you have found that this issue is related to the Feed or web part in the page, I'm glad that you resolved the issue by removing the web part.
