SharePoint not Reading in the full Username and Returning resualts from a List
Hi Guys, I have a list in a site on Office SharePoint 2007. In the list we have the Usersers Full Windows Useranem (Domain\Username) and then has some Detail About the User in additional columns. We use the Current User filter to show only the data relevent to the loged in user. This is where it gets interesting, If the user name has a (dot) in it, the list wont display back any information but if the dot is removed the data is displayed. Why does it do that and is there a way around it? Or is it just something that is going wrong with our system. Most usernames look like the following Example 06M.Smith the Number changes depending what year the user joined. The sharepoint list holds the username in the following format COLLEGE\06M.Smith What is confussing me is the fact of if there is a dot in the username the list wont display back any information but if we remove the dot the information for the currently logged in user is displayed. Does anyone have any idea's? Anyhelp would be greatly welcomed.TPark IT Technician

Hi, I understand that you use a filter view to display only the related information about the current user . I have tried to use user names that has a dot and others that don’t have a dot to test , it can both work well. I set the user name as DC01\08M.ming . I think it is the same as what you want . So you should provide more information about the steps you take . 1. Which column did you set your filter on ?What about the setting of the column ? Please check that you set these of the column properly: Set ‘Allow selection of’ to ‘people and groups’ .And set ‘show field’ to ‘Account’. 2. How do you set your filter? By creating a view or through some other ways? If you do this by creating a view ,please check to see this: set ‘show items when the column ’ ‘is equal to ’ ‘[me]’ . If you have any more questions ,please feel free to ask . Thanks,Entan Ming
