SharePoint local drive mapping and local folder mapping
Dear all
We have have mapped 2 local network drives to our sharepoint via UNC path. So one to the root of the sharepoint (k:), the other one to a library(l:) and at least I also mapped the library as a network folder instead of a network drive.
Situation one:
I'm opening the mapped k: and navigate to the library (the same as I have mapped with the letter l:). I'm opening a document and it opens normal.
Situation two:
I'm opening the mapped l: and open the same document as in situation one, it takes about 10 to 20 seconds for opening.
Situation three:
I'm opening the same folder and file via the mapped network folder, everything goes smooth.
Is every way supported by Microsoft? What do you advise to use? What can be the reason that in situation two the file is opening slowly?
Thanks in advance!
Kinds regards

Hi ,
The two ways both have their advantages and disadvantages . My Network Places can be a useful troubleshooting tool in situations where two local networked devices
cannot communicate with each other. My network spaces have the advantage of ease of access and consistency .
As for the situation 2,you can have a test based on this :
