Hi sharepointdiscover, In fact SharePoint will not send email by itself. It send email from mail server(POP3,SMTP). So, you can do some statistics on your mail server. You can also manage and tracking the mail for storing these email in your document library. You can refer to the following link. http://kartickapur.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/email-management-in-sharepoint-storing-emails-in-a-document-library/ Thanks, Jack

Hi SharePointdiscover, You can fetch above info by using SMTP log and then use either log parser or import to excel. The Question is, do you want to capture it from SharePoint? as We know SharePoint admin will not have access to Exchange server many times, then follow below. 1. SMTP log will be captured on SharePoint SMTP virtual server only if your virtual SMTP server is configured to relay to Exchange server and outgoing email settings is pointing to this virtual SMTP server (I,e WFE) or if more than one WFE server's then, install SMTP virtual server along with the relay and point outgoing Email settings to either VIP or Host name of VIP of Load Balancer. Note: If your SMTP virtual server is not configured to relay to Exchange server and if outgoing email setting is pointing directly to Exchange server then, the SMTP logs will not be captured on your SharePoint Server (I,e SMTP Virtual Server) http://spinplate.com/2008/07/set-up-local-smtp-service-to-relay-e-mail-to-a-mail-server/ http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Logging_the_SMTP_Service.html http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/using-logparser-utility-analyze-exchangeiis-logs.html When any users or alert sends mails to email enabled AD security group from SharePoint server, the entry in the SMTP logs will be only for AD group email address(only one entry) it will not show users belong to that AD group. Hope this helps. Mohammed Asif Kazi

Hi Asif Thanks for your help. I am using method you have mentioned i.e. IIS SMTP relay log and writing a Win forms application to parse and get the email count and recipient count report for the specified date range. As you have mentioned my report will be 100% accurate only if there is only one mail box per AD group. Thanks & Regards, Shivaprasad
