I am sure I remember reading a kbalertz.com style email that discussed one note and sharepoint, but I can't remember the context. It's probably worth searching. Something ought to turn up, assuming you don't get a more direct answer here in the forum. --Paul Galvin, Conchango RSS @ http://feeds.feedburner.com/PaulGalvinsSharepointSpace Web site @ http://paulgalvin.spaces.live.com

It's an old thread. There are a lot of URL formats that work when the URL is tested via the Test button but otherwise don't work. Unlike Paul I can't remember seeing a fix for the OneNote URL. However there shouldn't be any need for it imo as you can add .one files to SharePoint document Libraries and open them from there. (The contents of them are also then included in the SP search function which is a nice bonus)WSS FAQ sites: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com and http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

YOu may have already read this... But just in case is this how the notebooks are being created? When you add a new notebook to a library, the notebook becomes a folder in the library, and the sections are stored as files. Adding content to it and revising it are similar to working with your notebook in any shared location. On the Share menu, click Create Shared Notebook. TipYou can also create a shared notebook by clicking New Notebook on the File menu. In the New Notebook Wizard, do one or more of the following: In the Name box, enter a name for the shared notebook (for example, Weekly Team Status Reports or Product Planning). Optionally, select a color for the notebook cover, which will be displayed as an icon on the Notebooks navigation bar. Optionally, in the From Template list, select a default template to be used for the pages in the shared notebook. Click Next. Under Who will use this notebook?, click Multiple people will share the notebook, and then click On a server (SharePoint document library, network share, or other shared location). Click Next. Under Path, enter the Web address of the SharePoint library where you want to store your notebook. To locate your library, click Browse, browse to find the SharePoint site and library that you want, and then click Select. To tell others about the notebook, leave the Create an e-mail with a link to this notebook so that I can send to other people check box selected. Click Create. Is this how the NoteBooks are being created?Ivan Sanders http://linkedin.com/in/iasanders http://dimension-si.com/blog

I actually do that and it works (mostly) well. When I was writing my reply I started off intending to write a much shorter version of the above (i.e. that you can do it!) but for some reason forgot about it. Good that you mention it as it is the best way to get a complete notebook (or notebooks) into the SP system (although my single .one files will work too). It's also good that you stressed the fact that it needs from the start to be a shared notebook. You can't have a normal notebook and then decide to have it in an SP doc lib, it must be done from the start.WSS FAQ sites: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com and http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

Ican open the .one section and hyperlink to them b/c they do not have the protocol prefix. The section hyperlink when clicked in SharePoint bypasses a OneNote dialog box asking if you would like to open the entire notebook or the section. I want the entire notebook to open.

Yes, this is exactly how I am creating the notebooks. The hyperlink in the email does not contain the protocol prefix (onenote:) and therefore isa navigational link. I want a link that opens the notebook. If I click on a shared notebook title in ON, and select "copy hyperlink to this notebook" and paste it in a separate notebook it works perfectly opening the notebook...

A workaround is creating a Windows shortcut file which points to the onenote:// URL. Upload the shortcut file to SharePoint. In SharePoint page, create a hyperlink pointing to that file. Moderator Note: NEVER propose your own posts as answers. The function is there so that people can propose the good answers of other people. NOT for self-proposing.

Here is a solution I find works well: 1. Create any link in the description field. 2. Highlight the linked item. 3. Click on the 'Link Tools Format' ribbon. 4. Change the URL to include the onenote:https:\\ URL 5. Crtl+Click the modified link and test.
