I personally couldn't tell you but just read a blog from someone who could... http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=99505684&blogID=409847765 here is the URL to the blog. Her name is Kelli. She is incredibly friendly and nice I'm sure she wouldn't mind answering questions if you have them. Her post: I never thought it was possible BUT... Current mood: I just finished an entire week of SharePoint training at Interface Technical in downtown Phoenix. It was the second SharePoint class that I have attended there. I have to tell youboth times I walked away impressed. I have taken A LOT of training classes in my lifetime (AutoCAD, Novell, Web Classes, ITIL, COBITthe list goes on and on). Each and every one of them was ***. I'm not saying the content was difficult or hard to understand. I just could never force myself to really get into what was being taught. Well I am here to tell you that I have found the secret to training. IT'S THE INSTRUCTOR! The content being delivered in the class is a minor part of the equation. Classroom environment, staff and students play an even bigger role. A good training class is an experience not just a knowledge transfer session. The instructor is the key. He/she sets the tone for the environment. Fortunately for me (and my company) I have met a man by the name of Simon Allardice. He is by far the best instructor that I have ever had. He was able to capture my attention and get me interested. This has never happened before. Simon doesn't read straight from a text book nor does he put you to sleep with slide ware. He SHOWS you how to stuff! He's great at demonstrating what he is teaching. In addition, he is always asking if you have questions and what information the students need for their environments. He knows the product and he knows it well. Notice I didn't say that he knows the content well. He does, but knowing the product is more helpful than knowing just the content. You can throw some crazy questions and scenarios at that man and he knows the answer, even when the question is outside the scope of the curriculum. It was a GREAT training experience. I got more out of that class than just the curriculum content. I got interested. I got into it. I am eager to find even more ways to modify and utilize SharePoint. Simon Allardice made the impossible happen.. He got me excited about SharePoint. I'm reading blogs, watching online videos, posting to forums. I am even considering joining a SharePoint user group. . Wait, did I just say that? Wow! Guess what it all comes down to isSimon Allardice has officially turned me into a Geek J hahaha! Must have been the HOT Scottish accent 5:00 PM - 3 Comments - 4 Kudos - Add Comment -

Check out Professional SharePoint Server 2007 Administration from the Ted Pattison Group, it is taught by Shane Young, SharePoint MVP. It is available online if you are unable to find a location close enough: http://www.tedpattison.net/Courses/WC_SPA401.aspx

Both suggestions above are excellent recommendations. I'd like to add that if you are looking for a low cost, self taught solution, try www.itcourseware.com for their 4 day developer class. I am enjoying their materials on SharePoint. In addition, it's not location specific. Rick

The "please" seems to indicate that you work for this company. If you do, please indicate that fact in your reply !

Thomas, What kind of training are you looking for? Instructor Led gives you the opportunity to interact and ask questions but typically cost quite a bit. There are some really good custom courses out there and there are some that don't really measure up. If you go the Instructor Led route, I would ask the company to provide reference. There are several on-line versions. Microsoft does offer MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) that is both taught by Instructors and in an e-learning method. I am not saying this is the 'best'. I am just saying it exists. Some of these classed depend on the instructors experiences. These classes are offered only by Microsoft Certified Trainers which is a huge plus. Many of the other custom courses may not have qualified instructors. So make sure you ask the instructors experience. Here are some of the companies that I know that have great training ... Ted Pattison, MindSharp, SharePoint Solutions, and LightHouse Consulting. LightHouse has a DVD that I have used for both 2003 and 2007. They are based out of Las Vegas I think. I have no affliation. I have taught some of the classes for SharePoint Solutions and know most of their instructors. They have several MVPs on staff. Shane Young (MVP), who is no longer with them, helped write a couple of their courses. He has moved on to the Pattison Group. I know many of the MindSharp instructors and have interacted with them at TechED. Not a bad choice!!!! This is just my two sense with out a sales pitch.

Mindsharp's 5-day Core Technologies class is an excellent one for the Administrator. Me and my team's taken it while here in Philly and it is well worth it. - M

Hello, This is an old thread but I though I'd give it a try. My 1st exposure to MOSS was 4 years ago. I am not an IT professional but I am quite experienced in excel. 4 years ago a company i was working for gave me MOSS to solve some of my departmental problems with communications and sharing. I was assigned an IT guy who knew the most about it and I learned to use MOSS only as far as designing lists. I am with a new company now and am dabbling in their MOSS as far as keeping my own list and document control. What I am looking for is MOSS training as far as fundamentals, not just what MOSS 2007 can do better than 2003. As I don't have ANY IT training nor Exchange Server training: where do I start? How much do I need to know about Exchange servers? I plan on going into a company that has it already set up and want to learn about setting up the portholes on company internal websites and what MOSS can do. Bottom line: I just don't know here to start to get formal training but not too deep me not being an IT guy. Cheers, -Cory

Also, if you´re a bit of a self-starter, you can consider http://www.nothingbutsharepoint.com, which is just starting a community let certification programme. it´s not going to be as thorough as a Microsoft one, but for no cost and what appears to not be a huge time investment, I think its a good lead.
