SharePoint Tasks-Flase Email Notifications
We created a task list and assigned ownership of email when a new task is assigned. The user assigned gets the Task notification in the email. We have been experiencing False email notifications to the Users even after the assigned task is completed. Also found that the Task Items was last modified by the System Account. Also all these emails were found to be sent to the task assigned users around 12.00 AM. 12.30 AM and 1.00 AM. The Email would say Tasks- "Item Title" has been Changed and last modifed by System account P.S: For the Task lists where the email ownership is turned off, We don't get these "False Task has been Changed" Notifications. Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated. The Version we were using is MOSS 2007 SP2 and Win 2003 R2 ENT SP2 and SQL Server 2005 SP2.

Hi VJ3459, Based on my test, if you use site administrator to login into SharePoint site, then assign tasks to somebody, when the user received the notification, it will display that task Items was last modified by the System Account. However, if you user non-site administrator to login into SharePoint site, then assign tasks to somebody, it will display the exact name of the login user. For the time issue, please go to site administration-regional settings, make sure the time zone you select is same as your local time zone on your PC. And time format is 24 hours. After that, check the effect. For more information about how do the alert/notifications work for a Task list, please refer to the following post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/13eaacaf-eef7-47df-86f6-e930912f6eec/Regards, Rock Wang Microsoft Online Community Support

Hi, If you have multiple selection option for "Assigned To" column then this may give rise to a known bug (similar to what you are currently experiencing) if you have not applied SP2.
