SharePoint Publishing site - Navigation and visibility control
When you create a sharepoint publishing site and add a item to navigation, if you check for unpublished items the new menu items will be highlighted, despite this, it is still visible to all users including visitors. Why is that?
Is there a way to control publishing of navigation items?

Hi,
Please see if this is your scenario: You create a publishing page, edit and publish the first major version. As it has been published, site visitors will be able
to see this page. Later, you check out this page, make some modification and leave it as unpublished. At the same time, navigation link to the page is still visible to site visitor but what they see is the previous major version. The updated page will be visible
to users until you publish the page.
Only when it is a draft version and hasn’t been published to the first major version (1.0), site visitors cannot see the navigation link to the publishing item.
Let me know if I misunderstand you.
Hope it helps.
Thanks & Regards.
