SharePoint 2003 is already an unsupported product, with Microsoft on the verge of releasing the 2013 version, there's effectivly a 10 year gap between the versions of the technology. I think your third link covers the problem well. The closest to an MS endorsed response you're going to see is either a Premier Engineer or an MSFT posting things like this in the MSDN blogs.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/
