SharePoint Licensing 2013

Hi

We already have sharepoint 2010 inplace. how can i plan to upgrade it to 2013. i am asking about the licensing procedure. Do i need to pay for SharePoint 2013 even if i have 2010 inplace? is there customer support for licensing?

Hi,

As I understand, you want to know if you need to pay for SharePoint 2013 when you have SharePoint 2010 in-place.

If you want to upgrade to SharePoint 2013, in-place upgrade is not supported for SharePoint 2013 and database-attach upgrade is the only supported upgrade method. You should pay for SharePoint 2013.  And the SharePoint 2013 licenses depend on three factors: what capabilities are used, how SharePoint is deployed, and where the system is hosted.

The article below is about what's new in SharePoint 2013 upgrade.
