SharePoint Explorer view cut and paste Error
Good Afternoon Everyone, I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 (from XP). We are using SharePoint and within XP (using my account) every cut and paste works without error, however, in Windows 7 I receive the following error: "Can't read from the source file or disk" I do want to point out that within Windows 7 I am able to copy, paste and delete the file from the original location without an issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rob

Rob, I'm not following - you said "however, in Windows 7 I receiver the following error...", and then you said "within Windows 7 I am able to copy, paste and delete the file...". So are you able to copy/paste/delete in Windows 7, or not? Is there some significance to the 'original location', I don't know its context versus the other 'location' you're trying to copy/paste/delete from. Can you elaborate a bit? Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. I'm able to copy and paste a file in a directory to another (using Windows 7). However, I'm unable to cut and paste in the same set of directories. I have full control of both directories. I am able to cut and paste (using the same directories) in XP. Let me know if more detail is needed and thank you for your assistance.

I've encountered this behavior in the past when my authentication credentials into SharePoint don't necessarily match the authentication credentials used to log into the machine itself (while on a LAN). Do the credentials differ in this way on the Windows 7 machine?

I use the same domain credentials to log into both machines. I also use the same domain credentials to log into SharePoint. Thank you for your assistance.

I am having the same issue.. Works on an XP PC but not on Windows 7 PC. Doesn't matter if I use explorer view embedded or in separate window. Copy paste works, just not cut paste!Dave Martinak

I’m happy we’re not the only ones with this issue. I can’t seem to find anything online regarding this problem ether. I'll keep this post updated with any information I may find :-)
