SharePoint Domain Migration
Hi Everybody. We have the following enviroment: 2 Web Front Servers (Windows Server 2003 - 64bits), 1 SQL Server 2005, for MOSS2007. I have founded many foruns abount domain migration. But we have a specific situation. We need to change our domain. The login of users are the same in old and new domain (probably this can help). The SharePoint server needs to be changed, and database server too. That means that we have a scenario with many changes and we need to keep the integrity of our data and permissions, with same users in a different domain and different servers. So it's not just change users from a domain to another...all services will run in different servers in different domain. How can I start doing this? Is there a better way to apply all those changes? Tks a lot! Marcelo.

Hi Marcelo, As per your description it seems you are referring server migration, domain migration means changing domain name from old to new. So if its server migration you can follow below steps. Create a domain on new machine As you are migration SQL as well first of all take backup of all the SP databases from OLD SQL server Restore it on to the new SQL server. Then install a MOSS on new server and connect it to the new SQL server Connect all the SP DBs one by one to the MOSS sites and this way your MOSS will be migrated from old machine to new machine. Please let us know if this will be helpful Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/

Hi Pratik, tks a lot for reply. Acctually we need do all this that you described in a new domain. The logins of users have same names in different domains, example: I have an user called "marcelo" in old domain (domain\marcelo). In new domain, is the same name "marcelo" (new-dm\marcelo). But, in fact, that is the only connection between the domains...I don't know if it is helpful. So, we need change to new SharePoint Server, SQL Server and users in new domain. Tks.
