SharePoint Document library limitation.
Hi all, I want to know, when a sharepoint document library exceed its limitation (number of items), what will happen? Is sharepoint give alert?, stop adding to library? ..... Please if they any one know to help me? thanks in advance.

Thanks for your post - its hard to know from context which limitation you mean, but I'll make an assumption. In general, for SharePoint 2007 document lbraries or lists, its inefficient to display more than 2000 items in a view at once - this has to do with transient readlock placed on the AllDocs table in the contenDB during long-ish readooperations. Aht happens in a view with 2001 items? Nothing else - its just that as the number of elements goes up, you are more likely to degradre user performance as a whole. Again, 2000 is a guidance number - its possible to degin extrenly compklex list (large number of complex columns) when the performance degrades before 2000, and also very narrow single column views that run just fine at more than 2000.
