SharePoint Doc ID 404 error

Hello,

SharePoint 2010 standalone installed Windows Server 2008.

Having an issue with Link to a Document content type and DOC ID. If staff create a Link to a Document content type, and use the DOC ID as the URL, the Search Service still finds the Document, however, if staff try to open that document they receive a 404 error. This appears to happen when slight changes to the linked content filenames change (i.e. add a dash, extra spaces, small changes, etc.)

Looks like the DOC ID service isn't updating its handle on the file url when the filename changes.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian H.

Hi Rupesh

What is what displaying, please clarify.

The SharePoint library properly displays the Link to a Document content type.
When staff click the Link to a Document, the site search results works fine. It's only when staff attempt to launch the document from the site search result does the 404 get displayed "The Webpage cannot be found"

Example.

Let's say I've created a document called Test-forYou. Create a Link to a Document CT using the DOC ID URL of Test-forYou as the content type required URL. This works fine, the site search result displays the content, and if staff click the link it will launch the document.

Now, if I go back to Test-forYou and change it to Test_forYou or Test.forYou for example, and I use that same Link to a Document, the content is returned in the site search result as expected, however if you click the content link a 404 error is given.
