SharePoint Anonymous Users Seen as Guest Login
I have to build a SharePoint site that will allow an anonymous user to see the home page and register themselves into a registration list. Turning on anonymous access does not seem to cover what I need to do, so the thought was to have anonymous users run under a specific domain guest account. Then I could setup all the permissions I need to for the user and should be able to add items to lists etc... I went into IIS and set the anonymous user to use this guest account. I guess I expected to be seen in sharePoint as this user when launching the site, but it still displays as needing to sign in. Is it possible to have anon users launch the site and be seen as a guest account like this?

Hi,if i understand you correctly, you need a way of "anonymous" users access the site using a dedicated domain account, and have that account show up as "domain user" instead of anonymous? The only way i know of is to create a custom feature for this using impersonation.lCan't you just allow anonymous users to access the site and then have the users register them selfs for a "real" login account..Cheers,Daniel BugdayWeb: SharePoint Forum Blog: SharePoint By Bugday

You can lock down what anonymous users can see as well..Look for Security Trimming.Check this link:http://www.wagnerlive.com/mark/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=38Cheers,Daniel BugdayWeb: SharePoint Forum Blog: SharePoint By Bugday
