SharePoint 3.0 Search Fails
Hello,
I am seeing Event ID 2424 and 2436 regularly in my Application Event Log.
The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again. Context: Application 'Search', Catalog
'index file on the search server Search'
The start address <sts3://nzsharepoint/contentdbid={4bec21de-e0be-4ab7-94d7-d195565d2232}> cannot be crawled Context: Application 'Search index file on
the search server', Catalog 'Search'
I have WSS 3.0 and have SQL Server Standard Edition on my Windows 2003 server. Here is what I have:
On the
Configure Windows SharePoint Services Search Service Settings, I used a search account named svcSPSearch for the
Service Account. It has the following permissions:
WSS_ADMIN_WPG
WSS_RESTRICT_WPG
WSS_WPG
Domain Admins
Domain Users
For the Content Access Account, I have used the same account
svcSPSearch.
In my WSS_Search database, for the security users, I have included the following accounts:
svcSPContent - Service Account for SharePoint Search Content Access
svcSPSearch
Local Service
Network Service
Dbo
Guest
Information_schema
What I get on the SharePoint site when using the Search feature, I get a:
No results matching your search were found.
Knowing that what I searched for should have returned several results.
How can I resolve the errors? I have checked the passwords from what I have entered into the page for
Configure Windows SharePoint Services Search Service Settings is the same as what I have in Active Directory. Is there any thing else that I can do?
Thanks very much for your suggestions.

What is a Crawler Service account? I have a account that is used for Service Account and Content Access Account on the Configure Windows SharePoint Services Search Service Settings page in the Central Admin account. What is the Crawler account and where
is it used?
