SharePoint 2013 and Visio 2013

Hello,

I am trying to create a Visio Organization chart with SharePoint list as data source and display it as SharePoint web part, Is there a possibility that i can even change the images in the organization chart with the help of SharePoint list data

Thank you,

Sai

Hi Sai,

You might try taking a look at the article Roadmap: Display a data-connected Visio drawing in a SharePoint web part.  It applies to Visio 2010, but it should work similarly for Visio 2013.

Good luck,

Hi Sai,

By "pictures", do you mean you're trying to display photos of people in shapes in a Visio org chart?  If so, you should be able to do that fairly easily, esp. if the photos are in the SP list (employee) data. Just set up the data source as outlined in the roadmap article referenced above and the pictures should be available to you. To learn the basics of adding pictures to an org chart in Visio based on employee data, you can check this or this article out. If you want to do this programmatically, you should be able to use the Visio API (such as Shape.Picture or ChangePicture) to do so. See this article or this for more info on the Visio API.

If you're looking to do something else, or if you're having specific problems, please provide more details.

Kemp,

I looked up the link you provided in your first reply. It provides everything i need except for uploading "display photos" don't get me wrong, i already looked up links you have sent. but a display picture can be uploaded either from Microsoft Exchange server, text file, csv, or Excel file according to the links you provided. I read in some article we can do it programmatically, but i was wondering if there is anyway we can do from SharePoint.

My Conclusion : As per the links, we can upload pictures either through text file, csv, Microsoft Exchange server, excel file. I cannot find anywhere uploading through sharepoint list.

thank you,

Sai

Hi,

Do you mean that you want to add picture for the Organization Chart Shapes?

If so, you can right click on the Shape and choose Insert Picture. Here the browse popup will show up. You can manually type the site URL in the popup window. Then all the lists and libraries in the site will show up. You can choose a picture from a Picture library. If you are using the picture in a list hyperlink or picture column, the picture will show up as hyperlink when create the organization chart using wizard.

If I have any misunderstanding, please feel free to point it out.

Thanks,

Entan Ming
