SharePoint 2013 Workflow error 200 when registering

I have a single web front end with a web apps server. I installed workflow manager on the web front end. When I go to register the workflow service I get the following error in powershell:

PS C:\Users\sa> Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite "https://files.contoso.com/" -WorkflowHostUri https://workflow.files.contoso.com/:122190 Register-SPWorkflowService : A response was returned that did not come from the Workflow Manager. Status code = 200:<o:p></o:p>

If I look at the application log I see this:<o:p></o:p>

Alternate access mappings have not been configured.
Users or services are accessing the site https://apps.contoso.com with the URL https://workflow.files.contoso.com
This may cause incorrect links to be stored or returned to users.  If this
is expected, add the URL https://workflow.files.contoso.com
as an AAM response URL.  For more information, see: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=114854"/><o:p></o:p>

If I go to the page https://workflow.files.contoso.com/:122190
I get the xml file as I should.<o:p></o:p>

The thing that is driving me crazy besides its not
working is I did all this in test and it works great...<o:p></o:p>

apps.contoso.com is my web apps server. Does anyone know
how I can get my main site or portal site of files.contoso.com to respond so
that workflows will work? Looks like apps.contoso is taking any web traffic
that doesn't have host headers or an aam setup. Thanks for the help!<o:p></o:p>
