SharePoint 2013 UPS Synchronization service is not starting.

Hi,

We have big problems with SharePoint UPS Sync service as it does not start. We get errors in ULS log:

UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS: Failed to configure MIIS post database, will attempt during next rerun. Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException (0x80004005): External component has thrown an exception.

On related thread I found that couple steps could help here:

"So to fix it I

  1. Moved the Profile file in the powershell folder to a new folder
  2. deleted cache
  3. un-prevision the DB's
  4. Reran the script and finally it started."

Does anyone knows in more details how to accomplish this?

  1. Moved the Profile file in the powershell folder to a new folder - where is that profile file located?
  2. deleted cache - what cache?
  3. un-prevision the DB's - can this be done like here explained?: http://www.chaitumadala.com/2012/11/sharepoint-2010-user-profile.html
  4. Reran the script and finally it started. - what script was run here?

Thank you

Thank you for the answer.

$profile gives file path: C:\Users\User\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShellISE_profile.ps1.

But file does not exits on this path.

And:  Test-Path $profile returns False. So does that mean i am not using Power Shell profile.

Regarding Sync service it still not starting. Tried all the solutions. All permissions are correct. But service is not starting, not sure how to work on this?
