SharePoint 2013 SP1 - Apps Requesting Authentication

Hi Everyone,

I have configured SharePoint on Server 2012 with the database on a separate SQL 2008 Server. I have created one Web Application with the standard Claims Based Authentication Provider on the default Zone with NTLM and Anonymous Access. Anonymous access is working correctly.

I have just started using apps from the Office Store. I have configured the App URL and all required settings correctly according to the documents I have read. I configured a separate domain (not a sub-domain) and DNS works correctly.

I have placed some of the apps on a page in SharePoint and when the user is not logged in (anonymous) the apps load correctly but once the user logs in all of the apps prompt for authentication with a popup login box - one after the other. If I click cancel on the login popup I receive this error in place of the App:

This content cannot be displayed in a frame

To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame.

I'm assuming this has something to do with the fact that the apps are loading from the other DNS name. Have I missed a step? Is there something that needs to be configured to allow the logged in user to automatically authenticate to these apps? Do I need an Alternate Access Mapping for the separate app domain?

The behaviour is slightly different in different browsers. In Safari, Firefox and Chrome the App just shows as blank except for its title. The Frame error is received only in IE. If I click on the App title the popup appears again and if I click cancel I receive a "401 UNAUTHORIZED" error on the page.

Any Assistance greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Ok so I just added "*.myappsdomain.com" to the Trusted Sites in IE and it has made the popups go away and the content now loads correctly. This however only works for IE and Chrome (Chrome must use the IE Trusted Sites?). Firefox and Safari obviously are not affected. Most of our users will be accessing the SharePoint site from MacBooks. Is there a solution for Safari and Chrome? Better yet is there a change that can be made to the SharePoint Site to remove the Authentication popups rather than having to configure the client?

Thanks again.
