SharePoint 2013 Foundation CU does not apply (?)

Single testbox:

Installed successfully items:

     Windows Server 2012 R2

Sql Server 2014 Express Advanced Edition. (I enabled the TCP\IP network protocols for the engine)

     Sql 2014 SP1

SharePoint 2013 Prerequisites  (from SharePoint 2013 Foundation with SP1. exe)

When I tried to install  "April 14, 2015 update for SharePoint Foundation 2013 _ wssloc2013-kb2965232-fullfile-x64-glb"

I got "The expected version of the product was not found on the system".

Any ideas?

TIA,

Prasath,

I followed the path you indicated and saw that all installed products (including Microsoft 2013 SharePoint Foundation) are listed as version 15.0.4569.1506 which according to

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42039

is SharePoint 2013 Foundation with SP1.

HI,The issue is because of the missing of prevuous patches that required.Ensure the SP1 is installed properly and SP1 for Languages is also installed which are in your farm. Please check the link below that shows the same issue and the solution for this.

Anil,

>>> because of the missing of prevuous patches that required.

I will certainly check into that!

>>>  Ensure the SP1 is installed properly and SP1 for Languages is also installed which are in your farm

Following Prasath's steps I see that  "SharePoint 2013 Foundation 1033 Lang Pack" is installed. I also see that SharePoint 2013 Foundation version 15.0.4569.1506 (this is SP1) was successfully installed. I think that is what you mean by "SP1 for Languages".

That is the 'bad' version of SP1. You need to download SP1 and apply it again.

Trevor,

I thought I downloaded SharePoint 2013 with Sp1 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42039

I did not install SP1 separately.

So....... how am I to do this install ....?  Download SharePoint 2013 Foundation and install it then download and install SP1 (based on the list in the URL you sent)?.This is confusing.

_With_ SP1 is required to install on Server 2012 R2, but it comes with the _bad_ build # (although it doesn't suffer the same issues that the original downloadable SP1 did, hence it isn't going to be replaced with the _good_ build #).

If you've already installed Foundation, you just need to download the Foundation SP1 link I provided in my blog post and install it over the top, run the config wizard, and then you're all set.

Trevor,

Thanks.  I plan to reinstall SharePoint 2013 Foundation (from MSDN) on a new box

then after that, SharePoint 2013 SP1 (from your link

  http://thesharepointfarm.com/2015/04/list-of-good-sharepoint-2013-service-pack-1-packages/)

and finally the CU:

"April 14, 2015 update for SharePoint Foundation 2013 _ wssloc2013-kb2965232-fullfile-x64-glb"

Trevor,

Yep. That solved the problem for me!  The CU installed fine. Out of curiosity, after a CU is installed should one run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard again? (I'm not clear exactly what that does or when it needs to be run).

Yes, basically for (nearly) every SharePoint patch, you must run the Config Wizard after installing it.
