SharePoint 2013 Certification

Hello

Can someone give me details about SharePoint 2013 certifications available? I recollect there used to MCTS for SharePoint 2010 but I don't think that's available anymore. The ones I found at https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/sharepoint-certification.aspx are MCSE,MCSD and they both say they are for System Analyst and Developer resp.

I'm looking for SharePoint 2013 certification targeted for Architects and Consultants. Any help is appreciated

You are looking for the 70-331 and 70-332 tests, which gives you MCSE.  However, you must also (do first) pass the 70-346 and 70-347 tests to get your Office 365 MCSA (preferred), or the 410, 411, and 412 tests for server infrastructure.

Here is more info:  https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/sharepoint-certification.aspx

Nbrattoli,

Thanks a lot for the response.I see that 70-331,70-332 are the closes certifications related to SharePoint Administration/Architecture.

Two more certifications and that will be MCSE; the catch is MCSE page says it would qualify you for a job of Systems or Networks Analyst.

My employer might not appreciate that an architect has taken certification which qualifies him for Analyst job. Can someone throw some light on this.

There are two paths, one for on premise and one for Office 365. Both have a prereq that may not be to useful for an "architect". The on premise requires MCSA Windows Server and the Office 365 requires MSCA Office 365. This was a change starting with 2013. For 2010 and before there were only the two SharePoint exams. The thought is that you need to know the platforms that SharePoint is running on.

So either exams:

346 -> 347 -> 331 -> 332

or

410 -> 411 -> 412 (or 346 or 409 or 462) -> 331 -> 332

331 and 332 are combined with other exams for MCSE or MCSA certification track.

488 and 489 are combined with ASP.NET MVC exams for MCSD certification track.

It is up to you which track you want to go and your employer is comfortable with...

You would definitely be able to be an architect with the MCSE, provided you have the amount of experience they recommend before taking them. Anecdotal evidence, but I am an Architect with 6 years of experience, and the 70-331 test was super thorough, and pretty difficult.

If you have the experience and knowledge to get an MCSE, and are still an analyst, you should probably stop working at whatever company has those requirements, or ask for a new title.

For what it's worth, I went with the O365 tests, as they were much more manageable to me than the Server tests. I didn't even make it through studying for the 410.  Of course, it depends on where your strengths and interests lie.
