SharePoint 2013 - Log Truncation with DPM

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that backing up a SharePoint 2013 farm using DPM 2012 R2 will automatically truncate the logs? Also, if so is there documentation that back this up?

The reason I ask is first when adding a SharePoint farm to a protection group you don't get the same options as when you're backing up SQL. It doesn't do incremental, only full recovery points. Which makes me wonder whether it works in the same way as a SQL backup. Also over the last 6+ months our logs have continued to grow, and have needed manual intervention to control their size. We have also been moving data from a large file server during this time, which may have account for this, but we want to be sure.

At the moment the backup intervals are on average 3 hours apart. We could look at increasing the frequency, but not sure what impact this will have. As it's different to SQL, where you can have a daily full backup, with 15 minute increments.

Thanks,
