This is an odd issue we are facing, on our SharePoint 2013 whenever you try to click on Follow up for a discussion for example the following message pops up: "A task couldn't be created because we're having issues at the moment. ", when I check Tasks under Newsfeed I can see the task being created, so even though the task is created the error message shows up. Anyone facing this issue? Thanks.

For this issue, I recommend to verify the things below:

1. Make sure that Work Management Service is running.
2. Add the service account for Work Management Service to the administrators of User Profile Service Application.
3. Install SP1 or later CUs for SharePoint 2013.

If above cannot work, please check ULS log for more detailed error message.
