We are having some performance issue in our SharePoint SQL server where SharePoint Managed Metadata DB has been setup. We have observed that the "MetadataWebServiceApplication.GetChangeTime()" method keep on calling from our SharePoint application. We would like to know if it is possible to stop calling this method from SharePoint or any other way to improve our performance.

This probably isnt what you want to hear but have you tried a IISReset?
