SharePoint 2010 Remote BLOB Storage RBS.msi
There seems to be some conflicting advice with respect to installing and configuring SQL BLOB storage for SharePoint 2010. Part of the installation consists of installing RBS using RBS.msi. Some documentation only says to run RBS.msi on only your SharePoint servers, while other documentation says that you should install RBS.msi on your SQL Server and then on all of your SharePoint web servers. In addition, you are supposed to run this command on the first server msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS.msi TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="DBInstanceName" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1 and then this command on all subsequent servers in the farm msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS.msi DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="DBInstanceName" ADDLOCAL=Client,Docs,Maintainer,ServerScript,FilestreamClient,FilestreamServer Does the installation process depend on the version of SQL that you are running? We are running SQL Server 2008 R2, but I have heard from people who have encounted issues with this process while using SQL Server 2012. What exactly do these two commands do, and which servers are we supposed to run them on? Thank you.
