SharePoint 2010 List with Content Types - Using External Content Type with InfoPath External Picker

Hey guys.

I have this little problem which is eating away at me.. I've searched around the web for about 2 weeks now and not found a fix.

I have a SharePoint List which uses multiple Content Types for users to submit different requests.

One of the columns on the List is a Business Data Connection, via a SharePoint External Content Type.

When I add the existing column to my Content Type I don't see the field on the form?

So I went to InfoPath again to add the field to the form and bind it to the column but the field doesn't exist in the fields palette, nor does External Item Picker appear in the Controls box?

Does anyone have a clue what's going on? This must have happened to others?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gareth,
The column in external content type is not support in InfoPath when customizing the list in InfoPath.
And the field will not be displayed in the fields panel. It is an issue by design.

If the list has been customized in InfoPath and published to SharePoint, the column in external content type will not be displayed in the new item form and edit item form.

If you want to display the column in external content type in the form, you can set the form to be default SharePoint form.
Go to the List settings->Form settings->Use the default SharePoint form.

Best regards.
Thanks
