SharePoint 2010 Auditing - Draft Item Security

Hi,

Is there a way to track who/what changes were made to 'List/Library' settings?

If someone edits the 'Draft Item Security' for a document library, can we track?

Thanks

Setup Audit Logging in SharePoint 2010 to accomplish this task for more please visit this blog to see how this is accomplished. Check out this informative article to see what all features are captured in Audit logging.

You may also take help from this article for Draft Item Security that allows you to define who all will be able to see the draft/minor versions of the document: Document Versioning in SharePoint 2010

Enable and configure versioning for a library  / Enable and configure versioning for a list on a site through which you can track and manage information as it evolves. You can look at earlier versions and recover them, if necessary.

Moreover, If you wish you may also try this automated solution to audit the who, when and what does in SharePoint environment.

Hope it helps you!

Hi Mahesh B,

According to the audit settings in the article below, it seems that SharePoint OOB audit log is not supported to track changes in library settings.

Do you want to track changes of all pages in library settings? Or do you want to track changes of Draft Item Security field in library settings?

If you want to track changes of all pages, I suggest you find third party tool to achieve your requirement.

If you just want to track changes of Draft Item Security field, a solution can be like this: you can add JavaScript in the Versioning Settings page to check if other radio buttons are selected in Draft Item Security field and get current user, then update data in a SharePoint list.

About how to check whether a radio button is selected using JavaScript for your reference:

About how to get current user using JavaScript in SharePoint 2010 for your reference:

Thank you, Dean.

I will try the workaround you suggested. Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Thanks again,

Thank you Moreno for your response. I did look at the OOTB audit configuration, but that doesn't include auditing changes made to 'Library settings (like Draft Item Security)'.
