SharePoint 2007 target audience (user or group) web parts authorisation?
Hi, I have MOSS 2007 and I deployed PerformancePoint 2007 dashboard to SharePoint document library (web parts). I would like to implement web part authorisation by target audiences. I followed below weblink as guide but I would like to know... - I am adminsitrator at site level but not on SharePoint central site. Do I need SharePoint central site administration access rights to do target audience webpart security? ( I edit modify share web part and in Advance, I can not see option like Target Audiences ??) - Please can you post step-by-step guideline about how to do target audience (user or group or role) webpart security in SharePoint document library particularly for my scenario? http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/target-content-to-specific-audiences-HA010169053.aspx Thanks.

> I have MOSS 2007 Are you sure it is MOSS and not WSS? Audiences is a MOSS only feature. > I edit modify share web part and in Advance, I can not see option like Target Audiences It's the last option in the Advanced section. You may need to scroll down using both the page's and the properties area scroll bars. > I would like to implement web part authorisation by target audiences First of all, keep in mind that Audiences are not security. They are best thought of as filters that hide something from everyone but the audience. Hiding a web part for a list does not hide the list. If the non-audience member discovers a direct URL to the content, and they have rights to the content, they will still see it. > am adminsitrator at site level but not on SharePoint central site. Do I need SharePoint central site administration access rights to do target audience webpart security? Site Owner / Full Control (and probably Designer) is all you need for web part audiences. I have ShaprPoint 2007 version 12.0.0.6421. Please can you reply where can I get FULL list of SharePoint version/build history (like click here for SQL Server Build) > I edit modify share web part and in Advance, I can not see option like Target Audiences > > It's the last option in the Advanced section. You may need to scroll down using both the page's and the properties area scroll bar. If my SharePoint is MOSS version then I can not see Target Audiences option in Advance (botton of scroll). I found below website to enable that option but its not MSDN standard document. So please can you also reply how to enable Target audience oprion at web part level. ??

Here's a list of versions, but the version number will not identify the edition. http://www.sharepointdevwiki.com/display/SharePointAdministrationWiki/SharePoint+Versions http://www.wssdemo.com/Pages/versions.aspx WSS or MOSS? Check the top of the home page. Do you have "My Site" then you have MOSS. Check the list of templates: Site Actions, Sites and Workspaces See four or more tabs including Enterprise or Publishing, then you have MOSS See only two or three tabs, then you have WSS Mike Smith TechTrainingNotes.blogspot.com
